Overview

The Government is seeking proposals to develop prototype autonomy-at-rest enablers that would serve as a reasoning engine to enable tactical resupply of ammunition to weapon systems within the brigade combat team (BCT). Outputs from the reasoning engine will feed into an ammunition logistics common operating picture (AmmoLog COP), developed through a separate prototyping effort, using a defined interface specification design. Currently, these reasoning activities are performed via uncoordinated efforts within the brigade, using manual or sub-optimal tools in order to track unit and weapon consumption, establish dynamic ammunition stockage objectives, provide enhanced materiel management, storage management and allow for distribution management utilizing logistics nodes and support assets. These proposed prototype autonomy-at-rest systems should make use of enhanced planning capabilities utilizing intelligent agents and advanced reasoning techniques to assist ammunition management personnel to estimate multi-level stockage objectives down through the brigade, based on reported expenditures from subordinate and support units. This includes making decisions on rounds consumed and relative time intervals, which the system can compare with past trends as well as all stored and issued stocks.
