Overview

The purpose of this effort is to leverage known technologies into vehicle design solutions that represent potential upgrade candidates to support continued operations of the Flat Bottom Hull (FBH) fleet. An analytical trade study will be conducted to show recommended courses of actions to reduce fleet age based on 30-year Operations and Sustainment (O&S) Cost escalations. The best value technologies will be integrated, tested, and demonstrated on FBH vehicles. The intent of this FBH capability study effort is to explore the optimum integration of survivability, protection, and lethality requirements while maintaining mobility, transportability, and net ready capabilities through quantification of the overall performance of the vehicle system. This data will then be used to aid in the definition of future requirements and costs for decisions on FBH upgrade options.
