Overview

TARDEC is pursuing the design and development of a virtual environment modeling, simulation, and stimulation toolkit to make improvements that will better support the entire lifecycle of Autonomy-enabled ground vehicle systems, in particular, the ability to simulate realistic/representative human behaviors & articulation (e.g. crowd of people in vehicle path, foot traffic down a sidewalk, enemy/friendly forces, etc.); the ability to simulate more realistic/representative vehicle behavior (e.g. civilian/commercial traffic, military traffic, etc.) in various settings (e.g. urban, high-way, rural, etc.); the ability to inject numerous state conditions into the autonomy-enabled system’s autonomy kit in order to evaluate the response taken (e.g. stop the system, degrade performance, etc.). The toolkit prototype will require testing to ensure the tools created will provide the needed analysis outcome or identify needs for further development in order to meet the objectives referenced above.
