Overview

The Government is seeking proposals to develop, prototype and deliver an applique kit that can be added onto any fielded, tactical Material Handling Equipment (MHE) in the Army’s inventory that will link it with a supply point command and control system. The command and control system will be responsible for tasking supply movement operations to the MHE system. In turn, the applique kit sought will receive the task and either provide the information to the autonomous MHE system on which it resides or provide it to the operator if the vehicle is being operated manually. The system will then fully capture and track all activities of the MHE system to include real-time location and status, supply movement activities, a 3-Dimensional understanding of where supplies are picked and placed, etc. The system will provide this link for both fully autonomous and manned MHE operations. Additionally, the system will utilize the sensors required by the applique kit to provide an operator (for the systems that are utilized manually) with an increased situational awareness to allow them to operate more efficiently. While the system sought will be able to be implemented on any MHE system, the initial targets include both the Kalmar 240 Rough Terrain Container Handler and the 5K Light Capability Rough Terrain Forklift.
