Member Spotlight | 3 April 2023

In an effort to raise awareness to NAMC member capabilities within the consortium, NAMC launched the member spotlight last year, showcasing an organization from the capability areas identified via the GVS OTA.

Moving forward, we will do a standalone company spotlight twice a month. With over 500+ members, we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity and submit your company's information via the link below. There are a lot of exciting projects this fiscal year, and the spotlights help raise awareness to your company capabilities.

Q: What are your organizational goals?

A: Metawave’s core semiconductor and radar system and perception technologies not only deliver long-range imaging radar in low-cost small form factors but also address the US’s dire need to regain its leadership position among increasing semiconductor competition with its MARCONI and POLARIS chips/modules, which are key components of its 77GHz HUDSON and 24GHz TRITON Radar, manufactured using a US-based semiconductor trusted foundry. The Metawave platform enables non-experts to create quickly deploy scalable sensing, detection and perception systems around critical ground and aerial infrastructures allowing users to detect, track, and classify, including hostile UAS objects, over a wide field of view and out to long range and in all weather conditions.

Q: What is something unique about your product or service?

A: THE ONLY radar developer shipping what it calls the “Missing Chips/Modules” – its 16-channel 77GHz beamforming chip (“MARCONI"), 77GHz Antenna in Package "AiP" modules, and the 24GHz (“POLARIS”) version for vehicular and aerial long-range high resolution radars, as evidenced by strong cutomer track record and recent US Army to develop high performance MARCONI AiPs based radar for Army vehicles.

Q: What capability gaps are you able to fill and which industry colleagues would you like to know about them?

A: Highly integrated mmwave RF front-ends and antenna array modules for secure, reliable, long-range, all-weather, and high-resolution sending, communication, and perception:

  • Unmatched long-range (2-3x) and point-cloud resolution detection, tracking, and perception in all weather conditions over the full range and highest frame rate simultaneously for faster processing.
  • Low cost (less than one 10th of current cost), mass production silicon process (US based) which meets automotive, aerial, and defense grade reliability and temperature range of operation
  • Modular architecture to scale to other vehicles and terrains.
  • Patented technology with over 300 filed and 70 patents issued to date.
