Member Spotlight | 20 September 2023

In an effort to raise awareness to NAMC member capabilities within the consortium, NAMC launched the member spotlight last year, showcasing an organization from the capability areas identified via the GVS OTA.

Moving forward, we will do a standalone company spotlight twice a month. With over 500+ members, we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity and submit your company's information via the link below. There are a lot of exciting projects this fiscal year, and the spotlights help raise awareness to your company capabilities.

Q: How did your organization originate?

A: When our founder and CEO, Paul Fleck, was working full-time at another company, he delved into side projects and discovered his passion for robotics and the automotive industry. After he realized that he couldn't pursue these interests at his current job, he decided to start his own company. Dataspeed was formed and initially provided engineering services in a variety of areas where they could add value to the customer. However, as time went on, Dataspeed narrowed its focus to robotics and more specifically, autonomous vehicles.

Q: What do you want other NAMC Members to know about you?

A: Dataspeed’s Drive-by-Wire Kit (DBW) is a complete hardware and software system that allows seamless electronic control of a vehicle’s brake, throttle, steering, and shifting to enable testing for autonomous vehicle applications. The kit is constructed of proven industrial-grade hardware built to withstand complex terrain and unpredictable environments. All kits are engineered and assembled in the United States to ensure thorough quality inspections, and all production-level safety features remain intact and fully functioning. Our plug-and-play kits can be installed within a few days, allowing your engineers to get up and running quickly on their algorithm, sensor, or data research.

Q: What is something unique about your product or service?

A: At Dataspeed, we understand the challenges that research and development teams face when selecting the right hardware and software for their autonomous vehicle projects. That's why we offer a streamlined approach that enables you to focus on your research, while we take care of the technical details. Our experienced team is available to assist you with the selection process, providing you with the support and guidance you need to make informed decisions.

Dataspeed’s Polaris RZR DBW platform can be customized with high-quality vehicle integrations that can help accelerate your research and development. Dataspeed’s integration capabilities include sensor mounting, cable & storage solutions, software, and more. Our skilled team has engineered a durable IP55 rated enclosure to store electronics such as computers, ethernet switches, or voltage regulators to protect from dirt, dust, oil, and other non-corrosive materials.

Dataspeed’s DBW kit includes our intelligent Power Distribution System and an inverter/charger system with secondary batteries for additional power can be added. The by-wire equipped RZR is a durable and reliable research and development platform engineered to conquer challenging environments and deliver high-response, controlled power for off-roading.
