Ground Combat Systems (GCS) Common Infrastructure Architecture (GCIA) Community of Interest (COI)

Main content

There are new changes to our MOSA Community of Interest (COI), including that the MOSA COI has been renamed as the Ground Combat Systems (GCS) Common Infrastructure Architecture (GCIA) COI going forward. Current NAMC members in good standing may apply to be part of the COI. Members already in the formerly named MOSA COI will automatically be included in the GCIA COI.

The Ground Combat Systems (GCS) Common Infrastructure Architecture (GCIA) is an open standard, developed by the US Government in conjunction with Industry. The current GCIA version, 2.1, was released in March 2023. This Architecture model will enable novel implementation of current technologies, with the goal of allowing agile development and integration of new technology and solutions to GCS systems and platforms developed with GCIA processes and interfaces. This will enable faster integration of new components onto GCIA enabled systems; reacting to obsolescence, advancing technology, or changes in Platform mission profiles while reducing Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) and integration costs. The GCIA lays out standard interfaces within the model to be used in designing GCS Platform computer and network architectures, which enable modular and interoperable systems using open standardized interfaces. The GCIA will inform or cover areas including connectivity, safety, survivability, cybersecurity, and external systems. The continued evolution of and improvements to GCIA requires input from industry. This GCIA COI will enable critical open lines of communication with and feedback from Industry to Government, as the GCIA products evolve moving forward.

Part of our objective under the GCIA COI is to establish working groups consisting of Government and participating NAMC members that will develop Prototype updates to the current GCIA. We are currently in process with our Time Sensitive Networks (TSN) Working Group (WG) and we will be establishing two more WGs this calendar year. NAMC has created a survey to help make determinations on the topic of our next Working Group. Click the button to complete the survey.

The survey will close January 22, 2025 at 1500 EST.
