Description
NAMC is hosting a Modular Autonomy and Robotic Software telecon to provide information on the RTK Migration effort under Task Request 07 ROS-M on February 3, 2020 at 10:00am ET.
The Robotics Tool Kit (RTK) is a world-class government-owned robotic software system with an open architecture providing mature foundational capabilities and advanced autonomy technology facilitating widespread stakeholder contributions, capability transition, and rapid and assured autonomous ground vehicle development.
The challenge is RTK’s architectural evolution from legacy programs and dependency on the ROS (ROS1) middleware increasingly limits development velocity, hinders validation and security efforts, and introduces long-term sustainment risk. In order to address this challenge, the government would like to upgrade RTK’s development enterprise, practices, architecture, and implementation to ensure that it continues to meet the needs of current and future autonomous ground vehicle programs by accelerating the transition of RTK software modules into the ROS2 framework.
