The instructions in the SMET RFI indicate that file sizes be limited to 5MB. Several members have contacted NAMC regarding larger video files, and how they can share them with the Government. While we ask that you limit your RFI response files to 5MB, any pertinent and value-added video files (not marketing videos, etc.) can be accepted as email attachments up to 30 MB in size if sent directly to NAMC at SMET@namconsortium.org. NAMC will share these large files with the Government directly.
If you still have issues with file size, please contact NAMC at SMET@namconsortium.org

The Product Manager of Applique and Large Unmanned Ground Systems (ALUGS) is issuing the attached Request for Information (RFI) in order to identify sources capable of manufacturing a robotic system to support the proposed Squad Multipurpose Equipment
Transport (SMET). The purpose of this RFI is to determine the capabilities of National Advanced Mobility Consortium (NAMC) members to provide suitable commercial items to meet potential SMET requirements. It will: 1) Gauge NAMC members interest in offering a proposal for this program; 2) Understand whether there are any potential commercial products that may meet the requirements and 3) Gain voluntary feedback and analysis from industry to advise the Government on technical feasibility to include cost and schedule realism, as well as any other feedback desired by industry, of the requirements contained herein. Click HERE to access the SMET RFI and SMET IOP.
Submission of detailed responses to the questions in the RFI is requested. In addition, you are invited to provide any supplemental information or commercial literature not specifically requested that you feel would be informative. The Government does NOT wish, however, to obtain any proprietary or otherwise protected documents as a result of this RFI.
All responses are requested to be submitted as soon as possible but are due no later than 5:00 pm EDT on April 24, 2017. Electronic responses are required: either e-mail or digital media. Submittal will be in Microsoft Office Product 2007 (or earlier) or Adobe Acrobat. The size limit for individual e-mails is 5 MB per e-mail. The respondent is permitted to use multiple e-mail messages. The subject line must include the message number (example: 1 of 3, 2 of 3, 3 of 3) and “(Firms Name) response to SMET Request for Information (RFI).”
Please submit your responses and/or all questions for clarification to SMET@namconsortium.org
This is a Request for Information (RFI) inviting NAMC members to provide input, comments, and feedback on an initial draft of the Performance Specification (P-Spec) for the unmanned Squad Multipurpose Equipment Transport (SMET).
The SMET system will be a squad level asset used to sustain soldiers by physical offloading and providing the necessary power to conduct various missions. The SMET system is envisioned to have various control modalities. An operator control unit (OCU) will provide real-time remote operation of the SMET system and mission payloads.
This RFI is intended to:
- provide industry with early visibility into the proposed SMET P-Specs;
- enable industry to request clarification on the initial, proposed SMET P-Specs and provide input as to how compliance with the P-Specs will be determined ; and
- provide Government with early industry insight as to technological suitability and feasibility of the initial, proposed SMET P-Specs;
The results of this effort will enable the Product Manager (PdM) for Applique and Large Unmanned Ground Systems (ALUGS), the program office responsible for the SMET program of record, to conduct preliminary performance gap analysis between existing technologies and the initial, draft P-Specs.
THIS RFI IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. IT DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A SOLICITATION AND SHALL NOT BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT. RESPONSES IN ANY FORM ARE NOT OFFERS AND THE GOVERNMENT IS UNDER NO OBLIGATION TO AWARD A CONTRACT AS A RESULT OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. NO FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE TO PAY FOR PREPARATION OF RESPONSES TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. ANY INFORMATION SUBMITTED BY RESPONDENTS TO THIS TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION IS STRICTLY VOLUNTARY.
The Government is making an initial draft of the SMET P-Specs, together with supporting materials, available to NAMC members and inviting them to provide certain input and comments regarding the proposed requirements. Please download these documents below.
NAMC Members responding to this RFI must submit all material via e-mail to SMET@NAMConsortium.org NLT 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Friday, 17 Mar 2017.
Late submissions will not be considered.
Please submit any questions regarding this RFI via e-mail to SMET@NAMConsortium.org
